This year, we were the crazy ones.
An experienced software developer, an amazing quality assurance manager, and a talented people & ops rep sign into a zoom call in the spring of 2020. After that call, nothing was the same for these three.
To tell the truth, this is how we started Lopi.Ai. It was a crazy world, with the global pandemic and everybody working remotely. We worked crazy hours and had our best ideas put into what we knew best – truly complex platforms in e-commerce. Lines filled with exquisite technology that would help users find the products they need, on the one hand, and online store increasing their revenues, on the other.
Fast fwd to a summer without many vacation days, and we felt ready to start building the core features of a product of our own. We faced our fears, guided many long interviews, and met with plenty of astonishing product owners.
In September 2020, we decided to apply for the StepFWD pre-accelerator, deciding October and November’s faith. If accepted, we would have spent our time meeting with people and doing activities like never before.
After going through the program and ending it with a Monday Demo Day, I am happy to say that we are wiser with our time spent in the startup activities. We have made friends across various industries, we’ve met other startups in the community, and mentors who were there for us and will continue to root for our success.
We chose to start with the home and deco market, and to increase conversions, integrate a new way for people to search for products, from text to images, and we’re proud to say our visual search has amazing results. Adding auto-tagging, we can automatically extract the attributes from a photo of the product. And we can do this for thousands of items in no time. We can also offer other services to the global online home and decor stores, like similar products and complementary products.
We are happy to have signed our first agreements and to have made amazing in-depth client demos for the next possible clients.
To the StepFWD team:
You know the appreciation and the love we have for you.
Thank you, Alexandra, Gege, and Liviu, for the most precious time, resources, and ideas you guys shared with us.
I am proud to have met and worked side by side * with you all, program managers, mentors, startups. (* even online).
We salute everybody that had been there and had seen our greatest ideas coming alive, even before they actually did. It empowered us to keep searching, keep working, keep connecting, and going that extra mile.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”― Rob Siltanen
